As I embark on a recovery period from the trauma and torture since 8th April 2005, I have had plenty of time reflecting on myself and also moulding Singapore's tomorrow(teaching tuition).

Today I shall talk about why I think the Intergrated Resort should not be allowed into Singapore:

1.Singapore's population is predominantly Chinese. Who doesn't know that in the Chinese culture, somewhere in our genetic configuration we will always have an 'itchy hand' wanting to gamble. As if 4D,Toto,soccer and horse racing are not enough, now we have another casino?

2.Based on my friends' experiences(Neck,David Wu etc), gambling can bring about serious problems which may jeopardise the futures of Singapore's elite. The recent example of David Wu losing $2100 in internet poker on his 21st birthday is proof that even smart asses from The Chinese High School who know about the dangers of gambling cannot resist the temptation of it,what more someone from say JinTai Sec.(No offense) The example of Neck shall be illustrated on another occasion in case people accuse me of giving him free publicity again.

Also,our government's so-called preventive measures in curbing addictive gambling are also warped.
I shall quote the example of the $100 entry fee. In places like Genting Highlands,visitors to the casino do not have to pay to enter, yet there are desperate people who are sleeping on the Daytona machines at the arcade as a result of losing their last cents. Imagine in the future IR, Neck after paying $100, and do not want to just exit the casino on a losing note,would just lie slumped in a cubicle of the toilet when he's tired and the next time you see Neck is probably about 2 weeks later,where having starved himself will now look like a Chao Zhang instead.

As if places like Genting Highlands and the cruises are not enough to cause havoc in our society, our government wants to add in another 2 casinos? Hopefully after this entry, my many readers will be aware of what repercussions will actually occur after our government had made this decision. Will this entry make an impact? We shall see.
